About: Studio Ghibli is a renowned Japanese animation film studio known for its beautifully crafted and emotionally resonant movies. With hand-drawn animation, breathtaking visuals, and captivating storytelling, films like "My Neighbor Totoro," and "Princess Mononoke", as well as the Oscar-winning film "Spirited Away", have earned a dedicated global fan base. Studio Ghibli is celebrated for its unique blend of whimsy and depth, making it one of the most influential animation studios worldwide.
Summary: To me, Studio Ghibli’s films are a rare blend of magic, mystery, delight and fantasy. Paired with amazing visuals, all these elements are often crafted together to form a piece of fantastic storytelling. I have been privileged to have worked on countless Studio Ghibli campaigns, products, theatrical releases and merchandise. I am thankful that I have had the chance to work with such an icon in the animation world over many years, it will forever be cherished in my body of work.

Working as a lead creative and principal designer, I worked alongside the Theatrical and Marketing stakeholders to coordinate, conceptualise and deliver a suite of assets to help promote the film. Long before I started my career in design, I had already been exposed to the magic and wonder that was Studio Ghili’s films, amongst my favourites were Porco Rosso, My Neighbor Totoro, and Spirited Away. Hence when I was given the chance to work on home entertainment products that collectors would cherish, it was a dream come true. Along with members of the product team, printers and manufacturing partners both in Australia and overseas, I created products that fans both young and old, new and existing would truly treasure.
it was also a great honour to recently discover that some of my very own work is now on display in Studio Ghibli’s Theme Park in their museum.
Studio Ghibli Collectibles and Merchandise
Some of my proudest Studio Ghibli work involves the creation of unique collectible merchandise that was exclusive to Australia and Japan. These products were a result of close collaboration with our internal marketing and theatrical teams, as well as the overseas manufacturing partners and Studio Ghibli themselves.
Part of my responsibilities as the lead creator was to oversee the whole process of concept creation, design, design approval and artwork delivery. As well as liaising with our manufacturing partners to ensure samples, materials, build, costs and shipping were up to standard and within budget.
The end result was collectibles that were highly sought after and helped our parallel business in Studio Ghibli grow even further.
